G.L.U.E. Who do you think you are? Read the Story

Read the story(The Bible) and remember, their story is yours!

The challenge too great? Read the story. That’s you crossing the Red Sea with Moses.

Too many worries? Read the story. That’s you receiving heavenly food with the Israelites.

Your wounds too deep? Read the story. That’s you, Joseph, forgiving your brothers for betraying you.

Your enemies too mighty? Read the story. That’s you march
ing with Jehoshaphat into a battle already won.

Your disappointments too heavy? Read the story of the Emmaus-bound disciples. The Savior they thought was dead now walked beside them. He entered their house and sat at their table. And something happened in their hearts. “It felt like a fire burning in us when Jesus talked to us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us” (v. 31).

Next time you’re disappointed, don’t panic. Don’t jump out. Don’t give up. Just be patient and let God remind you he’s still in control. It ain’t over till it’s over.

G.L.U.E. Know who you are...

Milk...however sweet, can turn sour

This chapter of Luke describes the step-by-step process of the sweet becoming sour.
It’s the story of Martha. A dear soul given to hospitality and organization. More frugal than frivolous, more practical
than pensive. Ask her to choose between a book and a broom, and she’ll take the broom.
Mary, however, will take the book. Mary is Martha’s sister. Same parents, different priorities. Martha has things to do. Mary has thoughts to think.
App
arently Martha worried too much, too. So much so that she started bossing God around. Worry will do that to you. It makes you forget who’s in charge.
What makes this case interesting, however, is that Martha is worried about something good. She’s having Jesus over for dinner. She’s literally serving God. Her aim was to please Jesus. But, as she began to work for him her work became more important than her Lord. What began as a way to serve Jesus, slowly and subtly became a way to serve self.
One look at the flour-covered scowl will tell you that. “That Mary. Here I am alone in the kitchen while she’s out there.”
Oh boy. She’s miffed. Look at her glaring over her shoulder through the doorway. That’s Mary she’s staring at. The one seated on the floor, listening to Jesus. “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me” (Luke 10:40).
It’s easy to forget who is the servant and who is to be served.
Satan knows that. This tool of distortion is one of Satan’s slyest. Note: He didn’t take Martha out of the kitchen; he took away her purpose in the kitchen. He won’t take you away from your ministry; he’ll disillusion you in your ministry.

Guard your attitude.
What matters more than the type of service is the heart behind the service. A bad attitude spoils the gift we leave on the altar for God.
God has gifted you with talents. He has done the same to your neighbor. If you concern yourself with your neighbor’s talents, you will neglect yours. But if you concern yourself with yours, you could inspire both.

G.L.U.E. Perspective Choose...

Families live in a culture today with values that often oppose those that Jesus taught.

Culture says,

"Value things."

Christ says, "Value people.

" Culture says, "Put yourself first."

Christ says, "Serve others.

" Culture says, "Never be satisfied with what you have; yearn for newer, bigger, brighter."

Christ says, "The abundant life that I bring is peace, joy, and contentment.

" Culture says, "Hurry up, be busy, do, do, do."

Christ says, "Slow down, remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy.

" Culture says, "Money and power and status are our gods; worship them."

Christ says, "God is God; worship God only.

" Culture says, "Now!"

Christ says, "Focus on the things that are eternal and I am with you always.

" Culture can be toxic for children and other living things with its
emphasis on acquisition, materialism, and self-centered living.

Christ calls us into community - to love one another as we have been loved.

G.L.U.E. Perspective

I threw it out...

Last week I threw out Worrying,
It was getting old and in the way.
It kept me from being me;
I couldn't do things my way.

I threw out those Inhibitions;

They were just crowding me out.
Made room for my New Growth,
Got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on My Past

(didn't have time to read it anyway)
Replaced it with New Goals,
Started reading it today.

I threw out childhood toys

Remember how I treasured them so?
Got me a new Philosophy too,
Threw out the one from long ago

Brought in some new books too,

Called I Can, I Will, and I Must.
Threw out I might, I think and I ought.
Wow! You should've seen the dust.

I picked up this special thing

And placed it at the front door.
I Found It -- its called Peace
Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.

Looks good around the place
For things like Worry and Trouble
There just isn't any place.

Its good to do a little house cleaning,

Get rid of the old things on the shelf.
It sure makes things brighter
Thank you God for cleaning up my-self.

G.L.U.E. Perspective

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If your parents are still alive and still married you are very rare, even in the United States and Canada. If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

G.L.U.E. Perspective

G.L.U.E.   Perspective When I Say..."I am a Christian

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I get lost!"
"That is why I chose this way."

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are too visible
but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority.
I only know I'm loved.
